BISE Rawalpindi catches 7 female candidates for cheating in HSSC exam

Rawalpindi: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi, on Monday caught seven female candidates allegedly using unfair means during the Urdu compulsory paper of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC-II) First Annual Examinations. According to board officials, the candidates were detected during an inspection at the Government Associate College for Women examination centre in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Rawalpindi. Examination staff immediately reported the cases and disciplinary proceedings were initiated in accordance with board regulations.

Disciplinary Action Initiated

Officials said the candidates were allegedly found in possession of unauthorised material while attempting the examination. Their cases have been referred to the BISE Discipline Branch, which will determine the penalties under the board’s examination rules. The action comes as BISE Rawalpindi continues to intensify monitoring measures aimed at curbing malpractice during the ongoing intermediate examinations.

Controller of Examinations Visits Centres

Meanwhile, Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan visited several examination facilities in Fateh Jang, including Government Boys High School No. 2, Government Girls High School No. 1 and the marking centre established at Government Boys High School No. 1. During the visit, he reviewed examination arrangements and inspected administrative and support facilities.

Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Cheating

A BISE spokesperson said the board was implementing strict measures to ensure transparency, fairness and merit in the examination process. He said a zero-tolerance policy against cheating was being enforced across all centres to protect the integrity of examinations and ensure that academic achievement is based solely on merit. The spokesperson added that examination operations were being monitored through a centralised command and control system supported by real-time oversight and digital surveillance mechanisms. The arrangements, he said, were designed to detect and prevent cheating and other examination irregularities.

Measures Aligned with Punjab Government Efforts

The board further stated that these measures were being implemented in line with the Punjab government’s broader efforts to strengthen examination governance and improve transparency in the education sector. Under the leadership of Commissioner Rawalpindi and BISE Chairman Engineer Aamir Khattak, the board has adopted a range of administrative and technological measures to enhance accountability and maintain discipline during examinations.

Strict Action Warned

Speaking during the inspection visit, Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan reiterated that no compromise would be made on examination transparency. He warned that strict action under the relevant rules and regulations would continue against anyone found involved in cheating or any other form of malpractice. The ongoing HSSC examinations are being conducted under heightened monitoring arrangements, with board authorities maintaining close supervision of centres across the Rawalpindi division to ensure compliance with examination rules and procedures.
