ISLAMABAD - Pakistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to expand cooperation in media, film production, and cultural exchanges as both countries seek to deepen people-to-people contacts and strengthen bilateral relations. The understanding emerged during a meeting between Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, in Islamabad.
Key Discussions and Initiatives
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing collaboration between media organizations, filmmakers, and cultural institutions in both countries. The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cultural and media ties with Uzbekistan, describing the relationship between the two countries as historic and rooted in shared cultural and civilizational links. He said Pakistan attached great importance to its longstanding friendship with Uzbekistan and remained committed to broadening cooperation in areas that promote mutual understanding and closer engagement between the two peoples.
Joint Production and Exchange Programs
Attaullah Tarar noted that proposals for the joint production of short films, documentaries, and television dramas were under consideration. He said such projects could help showcase the common historical heritage, cultural traditions, and shared values of the two countries to wider audiences. The minister also emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation between media organizations and highlighted the potential benefits of journalist exchange programs aimed at promoting professional interaction and greater understanding of each country’s media landscape.
Digital Media and Online Campaigns
The two sides further discussed opportunities for cooperation in the digital media sector, including collaborative content production and coordinated online campaigns to promote cultural, educational, and tourism-related initiatives. Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev welcomed the growing engagement between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and expressed support for expanding cooperation in media and cultural fields. He also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace, stability, and dialogue.
The meeting reflected the continued momentum in Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations, with both sides expressing a desire to translate cultural and media cooperation into practical initiatives that further strengthen bilateral ties.
