RAWALPINDI: Civil Lines police have registered a criminal case against unidentified men and women after a video allegedly showing a dance gathering inside the New Judicial Complex in Rawalpindi circulated widely on social media.

The first information report (FIR) was lodged late on Sunday night on the complaint of a watchman posted at the judicial complex, who drew police attention to the viral footage and requested legal action against those involved. According to police records, the case has been registered under Sections 294 and 447 of the Pakistan Penal Code relating to alleged obscenity and criminal trespass.
The complainant, Tanveer Hussain, who serves as a watchman at the Sessions Court premises, stated that he came across a video circulating on social media that appeared to show a section of the New Judicial Complex being used for a gathering involving men and women. In his complaint, he alleged that individuals seen in the footage were engaged in activities considered inappropriate within the premises of a public institution and claimed that their faces were clearly visible in the video.
Legal Proceedings
The complainant requested police to identify the individuals appearing in the footage, register a criminal case and initiate legal proceedings in accordance with the law. Police sources said the video is being examined as part of the investigation and efforts are under way to identify those allegedly involved. Officials have not yet confirmed the identities of any of the individuals seen in the footage, nor have any arrests been reported so far.
The incident has drawn attention because the alleged gathering is said to have taken place within the premises of the New Judicial Complex, a facility frequented daily by judges, lawyers, litigants and court staff. Investigators are expected to review available video evidence and other relevant material before determining the extent of any violations and identifying those responsible.
Police officials said further action would be taken in light of the findings of the investigation and the evidence collected during the inquiry.
