Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met a high-level delegation of the Global Fund in Islamabad, focusing on public health cooperation and joint efforts to eradicate tuberculosis (TB), HIV, and malaria in Pakistan. The delegation was led by Mark Edington, Head of the Grant Management Division, and included Senior Portfolio Manager Azisken Goyria and Deputy General Counsel Natasha Heffner.
Prime Minister's Remarks
The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation and emphasized Pakistan's high regard for its partnership with the Global Fund. He lauded the Fund's pivotal role in enhancing public health systems in developing nations. Shehbaz Sharif stated that the Global Fund is a crucial partner in strengthening Pakistan's health infrastructure, and the government is dedicated to eliminating TB, HIV, and malaria. He noted that collaboration with the Global Fund has bolstered Pakistan's disease eradication efforts.
Formation of Joint Working Group
The Prime Minister directed the establishment of a joint working group between the Government of Pakistan and the Global Fund to prevent HIV and curb its transmission. This initiative aims to intensify coordinated actions against the disease.

Officials from the Ministry of National Health Services briefed the delegation on government measures and progress in combating TB, HIV, and malaria. The Global Fund delegation expressed gratitude for Pakistan's hospitality and lauded the country's efforts, reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation.
