Punjab BoR Seeks Report on Alleged Illegal Land Partition

The Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) has taken serious notice of allegations regarding the unilateral and allegedly illegal partition of valuable jointly owned land in Mouza Dera Muhammadi, Multan City, and has directed the Multan Commissioner to submit a detailed report within 10 days.

Official Directive

In an official communication (Letter No. 2026-1316/318-E(F)-IV), the Board ordered Commissioner Multan Amir Karim to treat the matter as a case of “highest priority” and furnish a comprehensive report on the allegations.

Petitioner's Claims

According to a petition filed by senior journalist Muhammad Shafiq, he is the owner and occupant of 19 kanals and 6 marlas out of a jointly held property measuring 21 kanals and 16 marlas in Mouza Dera Muhammadi. The property includes his residential house constructed in accordance with an approved site plan. The area, he stated, has evolved into a densely populated residential and commercial locality comprising two towns and the Dera Muhammadi settlement, home to thousands of residents.

Alleged Illegal Actions

The petitioner alleged that under the law, the partition of such developed and valuable property falls within the jurisdiction of civil courts rather than revenue authorities. However, he claimed that Deputy Tehsildar Asim Mushtaq and Patwari Malik Aslam deliberately concealed this material fact and proceeded with the partition process.

According to the complaint, the petitioner had been living abroad for the past seven years and his absence was allegedly exploited. Upon his return, he requested time to submit a response, but the revenue officials allegedly carried out ex parte proceedings without issuing proper notice or recording his statement. It is further alleged that backdated mutations were entered into official records and separate ownership entries were created in favour of the opposing party.
