LAHORE – Punjab Minister for Law Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan distributed Grant-in-Aid cheques among office-bearers of various District and Tehsil Bar Associations of Bahawalpur, Faisalabad and Sargodha divisions during a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of the Civil Secretariat on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Punjab Minister for Irrigation Kazim Ali Pirzada, Members of the Provincial Assembly Amjad Ali Javed, Malik Khalid Mahmood Babar, Khalid Mahmood and Syed Ar Ali Shah, Secretary Law Punjab Asif Bilal Lodhi, Additional Secretary Law, Deputy Secretary Law, Parliamentary Secretary for Law Khalid Mahmood Ranjha, Coordinator Law Afzal Ahmed Lali, and representatives of Bar Councils and Bar Associations from the respective divisions.
The minister also offered Fateha for two lawyers, Malik Israr and Zulfiqar, who were martyred in Attock. On the occasion, he handed over financial assistance cheques worth Rs10 million each to their bereaved families.
Representatives of the legal fraternity highlighted issues, including the allocation of land for lawyers’ chambers, parking facilities, women lawyers’ bars, water supply, lawyers’ housing societies and other professional concerns.
Addressing the gathering, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said that, under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government was taking practical measures for the welfare of lawyers and the development of bar associations. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing continuous financial support to bar associations across the province.
