KP Minister Reviews Infrastructure and Communication Network Projects

A significant high-level meeting was convened in Peshawar on Wednesday, chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs, Aftab Alam. The session focused on evaluating critical matters related to the enhancement of the province's infrastructure and communication network. Attendees included the Managing Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA), Director-III PKHA, Director-II PKHA, Director Coordination Expressways, Deputy Director South PKHA, Deputy Director Central PKHA, and other senior officials.

Detailed Review of Proposed Dual Carriageway

During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was delivered on the feasibility study and design of the proposed 7.5-kilometer dual carriageway connecting the Indus Highway with Bannu Gate Chowki Road. The presentation, prepared by Engineering Advisory JV and Creative Structural Engineering Solutions (CSES), highlighted technical, administrative, and construction-related aspects of the project. Participants reviewed various proposals concerning the road's construction and agreed that its timely completion would significantly improve traffic flow and provide modern transportation facilities to the public.

Minister's Directives on Project Execution

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Aftab Alam emphasized that modernizing the province's communication network and strengthening road infrastructure remain top government priorities. He directed PKHA officials and technical teams to complete all legal, administrative, and technical requirements within the stipulated timeframe and in a transparent manner to ensure timely execution in the public interest. He further stressed that no compromise should be made on construction quality, and all stages of the project should adhere to the highest professional standards.

Discussions on Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway

The meeting also received a briefing on the proposed Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway project and its potential implications for Kohat district. Officials presented a comprehensive overview of proposed routes, alternative alignments, regional connectivity considerations, traffic patterns, economic prospects, and future development requirements. The meeting emphasized that the social, economic, and commercial interests of Kohat and adjoining areas must be fully safeguarded during planning and final route selection, ensuring local communities benefit from this major national infrastructure initiative.

Focus on Regional Benefits and Quality Standards

Aftab Alam directed relevant authorities to thoroughly examine all aspects of the proposed motorway project and ensure that residents of various districts, particularly in southern and central regions, receive maximum benefits in terms of improved transportation, economic opportunities, and regional connectivity. He reaffirmed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government fully supports development projects contributing to economic growth, public convenience, and sustainable infrastructure development, while ensuring public interest and regional needs remain the foremost consideration at every stage.
