Faisalabad Heatwave Relief Camps Established

Faisalabad district administration has set up heatwave relief camps at key public locations across the city to combat the intense heatwave gripping the region amid rising temperatures linked to climate change. The camps are providing cold drinking water, first aid, and emergency medical assistance to protect residents from heat-related illnesses.

Relief Camps and Hospital Preparations

Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation, Usman Ghani, said the administration had established relief camps near the City Mayor's Office and the District Council Office, among other sites. "Our local government teams are providing chilled drinking water at the camps, while allied departments, including the Health Department, are extending medical and other essential services," he stated. Additionally, heatwave counters have been set up at government hospitals, where extra beds have been arranged to cater to patients suffering from heat-related conditions.

Public Health Measures Under Healthy Punjab Initiative

Chief Executive Officer (Health) Dr Muhammad Shahzad Mahmood said the Punjab government was taking comprehensive steps to safeguard public health during the ongoing heatwave. "Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is deeply concerned about the well-being of the people and has directed all departments to implement preventive measures under the Healthy Punjab initiative," he said. Dr Mahmood confirmed that extra beds had been arranged in government hospitals, and medical staff had been deployed at heatwave camps established across the district. Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) and other essential medical supplies are also being provided to visitors at the camps.
