Fire Breaks Out in Rawalpindi Landa Bazaar
A devastating fire erupted early Tuesday in the Landa Bazaar located in Mehrban Market near the Dispensary Ground in the Tench Bhatta area of Rawalpindi. The blaze consumed more than 25 makeshift stalls and their contents, reducing them to ashes. According to RA Bazaar police, preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was most likely caused by an electrical short circuit.
No Casualties but Extensive Property Loss
Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the affected stallholders suffered extensive property losses. The flames were visible from a considerable distance, prompting local residents to alert Rescue 1122 and other emergency services.
Initial Efforts to Contain Fire
Before the arrival of rescue teams, nearby shopkeepers and residents attempted to contain the fire on their own. However, the intensity of the flames rendered their efforts unsuccessful. The fire spread rapidly due to the large quantity of clothing and other highly combustible goods stored in the stalls.
Firefighting Operation by Rescue Teams
Teams from Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade reached the scene promptly and launched a coordinated firefighting operation. Firefighters faced considerable difficulty in bringing the blaze under control because of the combustible materials. After sustained efforts, they succeeded in extinguishing the fire and later completed the cooling process to prevent any rekindling.
