Busan 2026 Festivals: Port, Food & Coastal Attractions

Busan, South Korea's second-largest city, is set to host a series of festivals from May to June 2026 that highlight its coastal identity, culinary scene, and maritime heritage. The city, which welcomed a record 3.64 million visitors in 2025, continues to strengthen its reputation as a gateway to Korea's southeastern coast.

Busan Port Festival 2026: Celebrating 150 Years of Maritime Heritage

The Busan Port Festival 2026, scheduled for June 19–20, marks the 150th anniversary of Busan Port. The event will feature fireworks, concerts, marine activities, boat tours, water sports, street performances, and interactive experiences. Highlights include a Jagalchi Cruise offering views of port landmarks, visits to a Coast Guard vessel, and model ship-building workshops. The festival takes place across key waterfront locations, celebrating Busan's role as one of the world's top ten busiest ports.

Taxchelin: A Culinary Journey Through Busan's Downtown

Part of the Busan Original Downtown Revitalization Festival 2026, Taxchelin runs from May 22–24. Inspired by the local knowledge of veteran taxi drivers, this event introduces visitors to hidden culinary gems in the historic port-side downtown districts. Combining storytelling with gastronomy, Taxchelin invites travelers to explore authentic eateries and discover flavors that have shaped Busan's food culture. An online Taxchelin Guidebook lists restaurants, attractions, and local stories for visitors exploring beyond the festival.

Coastal Attractions and Neighborhoods

Busan's coastline is central to its identity. Haeundae Beach, known for its long arc of sand, hosts major festivals and draws beachgoers year-round. The Sky Capsules at Haeundae Blueline Park offer scenic ocean views, while harbor cruises provide a maritime perspective. Gamcheon Culture Village, tucked into a coastal mountain, features colorful terrace houses where art, history, and coastal views converge.

Culinary Specialties and Markets

Busan's coastal location ensures access to fresh seafood. Visitors can explore Jagalchi Fish Market, one of Korea's largest seafood markets, sample local specialties at Gukje Market's Food Street, or visit Bupyeong Kkangtong Market for street food and late-night bites. Local dishes like milmyeon (a refreshing wheat noodle soup) and dwaeji gukbap (hearty pork and rice soup) reflect Busan's history as a port and refuge city.
