KP Minister Orders Probe into Abbottabad Class-IV Recruitment Negligence
KP Minister Orders Probe into Abbottabad Recruitment

In a significant move to ensure transparency, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Arshad Ayub, has mandated a formal investigation into alleged irregularities in the hiring process for Class-IV staff within the Abbottabad district. The directive was issued during a high-level meeting convened in Peshawar on Wednesday.

Major Overhaul in Recruitment Process

Minister Arshad Ayub declared that the inquiry must also scrutinize the conduct of the Litigation Officer at the Abbottabad District Education Office. This step aligns with the provincial government's pledge for greater accountability. He revealed that a new transparent mechanism is being formulated for all future recruitments in the Education Department.

Under this revamped system, the power to make new appointments will be stripped from District Education Officers. Instead, hiring recommendations will be sent directly to the Director of Elementary and Secondary Education for final approval, centralizing the process to minimize local malpractice.

Key Discussions on School Infrastructure and Funds

The meeting, which focused on Abbottabad district schools, saw attendance from prominent figures including Members of the Provincial Assembly Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani and Nazir Ahmad Abbasi. Also present were Managing Director of the Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation Qaiser Alam, the Additional Secretary Education, Deputy Chief Planning Officer, District Education Officers from Abbottabad, and other relevant officials.

Agenda items covered critical issues such as:

  • The release of funds for closed and newly-constructed schools.
  • Effective utilization of additional grants.
  • Plans for school upgradation.
  • Measures to tackle the persistent shortage of school furniture.

Government's Priority: Education and Health

Addressing the attendees, Minister Ayub emphasized that the current government is prioritizing the education and health sectors. He announced the establishment of a dedicated legal forum to efficiently handle court cases related to the Education Department, aiming for quicker and more effective resolutions.

The minister issued clear instructions to concerned authorities, directing them to ensure the construction, repair, and furnishing of schools across Abbottabad. He specifically called for proactive steps to secure necessary funds from the Finance Department for school projects that have remained incomplete for years due to financial constraints.

This comprehensive review signals a firm commitment from the KP government to address systemic issues, promote transparency in recruitment, and improve the physical and administrative infrastructure of schools in the region.
