Punjab Matriculation Examinations to Launch on March 27 with Focus on Sensitive Centers
The annual matriculation examinations across Punjab are scheduled to commence on March 27, as announced by educational authorities. This year, approximately 250,000 students are expected to participate in the exams, which will be conducted at around 880 centers spread throughout the province. The opening day will feature papers in Arabic, Commercial Geography, and History, setting the stage for a rigorous testing period.
Heightened Security Measures for Sensitive Examination Centers
Authorities have identified several examination centers as sensitive, necessitating special monitoring and security arrangements. In Lahore, 14 locations have been flagged, including institutions in areas such as Achhra, Barki, Chohung, Maraka Quarter, and Sher Shah Colony. Beyond Lahore, additional precautionary measures have been extended to other districts, with four centers in Kasur, seven in Sheikhupura, and one in Nankana Sahib also categorized as sensitive.
To ensure discipline and transparency, strict security protocols have been implemented across all centers. These measures include:
- CCTV monitoring at 26 centers to oversee activities and prevent malpractice.
- Enforcement of Section 144 to restrict unauthorized gatherings and maintain order.
- Controlled entry protocols that permit only registered candidates with valid identification to enter examination venues.
- Barring unauthorized individuals from accessing examination premises to minimize disruptions.
Examination Schedule and Conclusion
The matriculation exams will run through April 16, concluding with papers in Punjabi and Islamic History. Following this, the 9th-grade examinations are set to commence on April 17, ensuring a seamless transition between academic levels. This structured timeline aims to facilitate a smooth and organized examination process for all students involved.
Officials emphasize that these security measures are crucial for upholding the integrity of the examination system and providing a fair testing environment. The focus on sensitive centers reflects a proactive approach to addressing potential challenges and ensuring that all students can perform to the best of their abilities without undue interference.
