Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith Surprise Duet

Olivia Rodrigo has unveiled a surprise collaboration with The Cure frontman Robert Smith, debuting their duet What's Wrong With Me during a special appearance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, just days before the release of her third studio album.

Surprise Performance at Primavera Sound

The singer brought Smith on stage during the festival performance, where the pair premiered the previously unheard track from Rodrigo's upcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, due for release on 12 June. The song marks the first full artist collaboration to appear on one of Rodrigo's studio albums.

According to reports from the festival, Rodrigo became emotional after performing the song, describing the moment as surreal given her long-standing admiration for Smith and The Cure.

Long-Awaited Collaboration

The collaboration had been rumoured for months after Smith revealed earlier this year that the pair had spent time working together in the studio. The partnership builds on a friendship that began publicly at Glastonbury 2025, when Rodrigo invited Smith on stage to perform The Cure classics Just Like Heaven and Friday I'm in Love during her headline set. The appearance was widely praised by fans and fuelled speculation that the two musicians would eventually record original material together.

What's Wrong With Me is expected to feature on Rodrigo's forthcoming album alongside previously released tracks including Drop Dead and The Cure. The album has been described by the singer as an exploration of love, uncertainty and emotional contradictions, themes that appear to continue on the new duet.

The surprise premiere was one of the standout moments of Primavera Sound 2026, drawing a large crowd and generating immediate excitement online as fans got their first taste of Rodrigo and Smith's long-awaited musical collaboration.
