IBIZA - Vivian Wilson abruptly ended a recent red carpet interview after being asked about her billionaire father, Elon Musk. The 22-year-old model was attending a Desigual Vintage event in Ibiza when a reporter approached her on the red carpet and made a comment about her father. The filmed exchange later began making rounds online.
In the video, the model can be seen smiling as she answered questions on the red carpet before the journalist asked, "Your father the best, no?" Wilson initially appeared confused and asked the reporter to repeat the question. "My what? Sorry?" the model asked. When the interviewer again referred to her father in a positive way, repeating, "The best, your father," Wilson's reaction changed immediately. She stopped smiling, looked visibly uncomfortable, and responded briefly with "Okay" before walking away and ending the interview. Wilson did not issue any further comment after leaving the interview area.
Estranged Relationship
Wilson has been estranged from Musk for several years. In 2022, she legally changed her name and gender and filed documents stating she did not wish to be associated with her father in any way. Since then, she has spoken publicly about her decision to distance herself from him and has defended her identity and independence. In a 2024 interview, she described Musk as an emotionally absent and strict parent during her upbringing, and said she had very limited interaction with him while growing up.
Musk's Comments
Musk has also made public comments about his relationship with Wilson, lamenting losing his son to "woke mind virus" after he was "tricked" into signing transition documents. The X owner called the gender-reassignment surgery "child mutilation and sterilisation" and referred to Vivian by her deadname, which is the birth name or former name of a transgender or non-binary person who has chosen a different name to align with their gender identity.
"This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on, and we had COVID going on, so there was a lot of confusion and I was told [Vivian] might commit suicide should she not receive the care she needed," Musk said. "I lost my son. They call it deadnaming for a reason. The reason it's called deadnaming is because your son is dead. So my son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus," the Tesla CEO added.
