In a series of candid Instagram Stories, Zara gave fans a glimpse into a lively family get-together featuring her husband, Asad Siddiqui, her mother, Asma Abbasi, and her aunt, veteran actor Bushra Ansari. What began with mangoes on the dining table soon evolved into a humorous conversation about internet trolls, celebrity culture and nostalgia.
Mangoes and Teasing
The banter began with Bushra slicing and serving mangoes to her son-in-law, Siddiqui, while teasing him in her trademark style. "See how I am cutting and giving Asad Siddiqui mangoes? As if I am afraid of him or like he could do anything to me!" she joked before reminding him, with a laugh, to always keep Zara happy.
Trolls and Sour Mangoes
Zara then steered the conversation towards online trolling, asking Bushra what she thought about people constantly criticising celebrities on social media. Without missing a beat, Bushra replied, "They should be given these sour mangoes." She remarked that anonymous users often target celebrities over their appearance, repeatedly calling people "too old" or "too fat". When Asad asked who these critics actually were, Zara quipped that they were probably anonymous users hiding behind fake accounts.
Snake Display Pictures
Bushra then turned her attention to the profile pictures commonly used by internet trolls. "If you look at their IDs, they all have birds and nature scenes. They really should just have a dog on them," she said. She immediately corrected herself with a laugh. "Actually, a dog is a good, loyal animal. They should have a snake as their display picture instead." Zara quickly joined in on the joke, declaring, "I am a snake—an anaconda, for sure!" When Bushra pointed out that Zara's profile picture featured no such thing, the actor playfully promised to change it to a reptile.
Mother Joins the Fun
The conversation became even livelier when Asma entered the room, prompting Zara to tease her mother by asking whether she had arrived simply for "two seconds of fame". Asma laughed before joining the discussion, saying public figures had grown tired of hearing the same recycled insults online. "These people really need to find a new topic to talk about. We're so tired of reading the same comments. Find something new—we're bored," she said. She added that perhaps online trolls had become bored with their own lives because they constantly watched celebrities travelling, working and enjoying themselves.
Outrageous Solution
Never one to miss a punchline, Bushra proposed an outrageous solution. "We should do something illegal! Open a smuggling ring or do something truly dangerous so they actually have something real to talk about!" she joked.
Mango Quality Debate
The conversation eventually drifted back to the meal itself, with the family debating whether mangoes were as sweet as they used to be. The elders fondly recalled how fruit tasted fresher in their younger days, while Asma laughingly complained that some of the mangoes they had bought were rotten inside. Zara was quick to point out that her mother was happily eating them anyway.
