A popular restaurant in India's Chandigarh, owned by singer and rapper Badshah, has been sealed by authorities following allegations of multiple structural violations, according to Indian media. The action was taken by the Chandigarh administration as part of an ongoing crackdown on commercial establishments failing to comply with regulatory norms.
Prior Warnings Ignored
Officials said the venue had been issued prior warnings but failed to rectify the irregularities, Indian media reported. An inspector confirmed that several unauthorised modifications had been carried out at the property, significantly deviating from the approved architectural plans.
Official Confirmation
Confirming the closure, authorities said, “We have sealed Club Sago following multiple building violations.” The official added that despite being given ample time and repeated opportunities to comply with Estate Office directives, the management did not take corrective action.
Details of Violations
According to reports, inspections revealed multiple violations, including the unauthorised installation of partitions, cabins, toilets, kitchen areas and cold storage facilities. The team also noted that courtyards had been illegally covered using mild steel structures and sheets.
Timeline of Events
As per Indian media reports, the process began in April 2024 when notices were issued to the venue’s occupants regarding the structural changes. Authorities said the management was given sufficient time to remove the unauthorised constructions but failed to comply, leaving officials with no option but to proceed with sealing the premises.
The venue will remain sealed until further notice from the authorities.
