Mindy Kaling has shared an update on the future of Hulu comedy series Not Suitable For Work following its season one finale, discussing potential storylines, character developments and the possibility of a second season. "I'm really proud of what we built, and the cast has been incredibly supportive," Kaling said, according to reports. She emphasized that the writers have already begun brainstorming new arcs, but the final decision rests with Hulu.

The creator also discussed the future of Jay Ellis' character Bill after his dramatic breakup with AJ. Kaling said she would like the actor to return, explaining that relationships and breakups can continue to affect characters even after romantic storylines end.
"Even if a romantic relationship ends, the characters still exist in the same world, and their connections can evolve in interesting ways," Kaling noted. She expressed hope that Ellis would reprise his role in some capacity if the series is renewed.

Other possible returns include Ego Nwodim's Kate and Harry Richardson's Austin, with Kaling expressing interest in bringing back several supporting characters. She also highlighted the chemistry between Avantika and Nicholas Duvernay's characters Abby and Kel, teasing more possibilities if the series returns.
"The dynamic between Abby and Kel is something we'd love to explore further," Kaling said. The show has already established their professional and personal bond, which could deepen in a second season.
