Shrek 5 Trailer Reveals First Look at Animated Sequel

The first trailer for Shrek 5 has been released, offering fans a first look at the return of Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey for a brand-new adventure in the beloved animated franchise. Released by Universal Pictures, the Shrek 5 trailer arrives ahead of the film's theatrical debut on June 30, 2027.

The upcoming sequel marks the first main Shrek installment in 17 years, following Shrek Forever After in 2010. Original voice stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are returning as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. The new film also introduces Shrek and Fiona's children, with Zendaya voicing Felicia, while Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo join the cast as Fergus and Farkle.

The trailer opens by revisiting the original 2001 Shrek story before Donkey interrupts the fairytale-style narration and sends the characters into another chaotic journey. The group returns to the magical world of Far, Far Away, where they encounter new challenges, including law enforcement, unusual characters, and familiar faces from the franchise. The preview also features the return of Gingy, along with several comedic moments that continue the franchise's signature humor. The trailer concludes with Shrek, Fiona, their children, and Donkey finding themselves trapped in a jail cell.

Shrek 5 continues the legacy of the DreamWorks franchise, which has remained popular through its original films and spin-off projects. The series expanded with the Puss in Boots movies, including 2011's Puss in Boots and 2022's Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. With the return of the original characters and a new generation joining the story, Shrek 5 is expected to be one of the biggest animated movie releases of 2027.
