Speaking on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, Holland reflected on how his off-screen relationship with Zendaya contributed to their creative collaboration on set. According to Holland, the issue arose while filming a scene for the next Spider-Man installment after his portion had already been completed and production moved on to Zendaya's coverage.
The actor explained that he felt comfortable asking Zendaya whether the scene was working, a conversation he said he would not normally have with a co-star he was not in a relationship with. After discussing the scene together, Holland approached the film's producers to share their concerns.

Holland then raised the issue with director Destin Daniel Cretton, who listened to the feedback and decided to revisit the material. According to Holland, the production team paused work on the scene, allowing Cretton and a writer to revise it before filming resumed the following day.
The actor said the rewritten version ultimately improved the film and better captured the emotions the scene was meant to convey. Holland also praised Zendaya's talent, describing her as one of the best actors working today and commending her fearless approach to performance.
