Rescue 1122 Mohmand Handles 439 Emergencies in May 2026

Rescue 1122 Mohmand responded to 439 emergencies across the district during May 2026, providing lifesaving assistance to hundreds of people despite receiving an alarming number of fake and non-emergency calls that placed additional pressure on emergency response services.

According to the monthly performance report released by the district emergency service, Rescue 1122 handled a total of 439 emergencies under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Engr. Khaliq Dad. The incidents included 363 medical emergencies, 44 road traffic accidents, eight cases involving fighting and gunshot injuries, two building collapse incidents, two pressure cooker explosions, one fire incident, two drowning cases, and 17 other recovery-related emergencies.

The report stated that rescue teams provided emergency medical treatment and first aid to 449 victims and shifted them to nearby hospitals for further care. Several patients were treated at the scene, while five people lost their lives in various incidents during the reporting period. Rescue 1122 also carried out 96 referral operations during the month. Of these, 87 patients were transferred from the District Headquarters Hospital in Ghalanai to medical facilities in Peshawar, while nine patients were shifted from tehsil headquarters hospitals to the DHQ Hospital.

A significant concern highlighted in the report was the misuse of the emergency helpline. Rescue 1122 received 6,114 calls during May, including 3,732 fake or unnecessary calls and 1,943 incomplete or information-seeking calls. Officials warned that such misuse of emergency communication channels can delay response times and potentially jeopardize efforts to assist people facing genuine emergencies.

Alongside its emergency response operations, Rescue 1122 Mohmand conducted a district-wide awareness campaign on heatwave and heatstroke prevention on the directives of Director General Rescue 1122 Shah Fahad, Regional Director Operations (Centre) Imran Khan, and District Emergency Officer Engr Khaliq Dad. Rescue personnel distributed awareness materials among the public, educated citizens about preventive measures, and established heatstroke relief camps at various locations to provide immediate medical assistance during periods of extreme heat.

The emergency service also implemented a comprehensive Eidul Azha emergency plan, deploying ambulances, rescue teams, and medical staff at Eid congregations, cattle markets, recreational spots, major roads, parking areas, and other sensitive locations across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Engr Khaliq Dad said Rescue 1122 remained fully prepared to respond to emergencies around the clock and reiterated the department's commitment to protecting lives and property. He urged citizens to use the 1122 helpline responsibly and report emergencies without delay, stressing that timely information and public cooperation are essential for saving lives. He commended the dedication and professionalism of rescue personnel and reaffirmed the department's resolve to continue providing prompt, efficient, and high-quality emergency services to the people of Mohmand.
