The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) has completed repair work on the main water pipeline that supplies four union councils in Lyari, paving the way for the phased restoration of water services after a temporary disruption.
Technical Fault Disrupted Supply
According to a spokesperson for KW&SC, a technical fault in the main distribution line had interrupted water supply to Union Councils 9, 10, 11, and 12, prompting complaints from residents in the affected neighborhoods. In response, KW&SC deployed technical teams on an emergency basis to repair the damaged pipeline. The teams worked continuously until the restoration work was successfully completed.
Gradual Restoration Process
Following the completion of repairs, the corporation has begun the process of reactivating and charging the pipeline. Water pressure is being gradually restored to ensure the system operates safely before regular distribution resumes across the affected areas. The spokesperson said water supply to Union Councils 9, 10, 11, and 12 is expected to begin resuming later today through a phased process. Full restoration of normal water services across the affected parts of Lyari is anticipated by Sunday morning.
Infrastructure Investment
In a related development, a grant of Rs570 million has been approved for infrastructure restoration of small industrial estates, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve urban utilities and economic zones in Karachi.
