Addressing the gathering, US diplomat Natalie Baker said relations between the two countries continue to deepen through cooperation in areas of mutual interest. She described the Pakistan-US relationship as a long-standing partnership driven by shared goals and practical collaboration. Baker highlighted ongoing efforts by the US mission in Pakistan to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, visa services, and security, noting that these initiatives have produced positive results.

Economic and Diplomatic Collaboration

Baker stressed that a stable and prosperous Pakistan aligns with US interests and said joint projects in sectors such as agriculture and industry are helping create economic opportunities and improve living standards. Referring to Pakistan’s diplomatic role, she noted that Islamabad facilitated high-level engagement between Iran and the United States earlier this year, calling it a reflection of Pakistan’s constructive contribution to regional and international diplomacy. The US diplomat also said that US President Donald Trump had acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir regarding initiatives associated with an Iran ceasefire arrangement.

Cultural and Sports Diplomacy

Sharing her personal experiences in Pakistan, Baker spoke about attending the Basant festival in Lahore, describing it as a colorful representation of the country’s cultural heritage. She also pointed to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States as an example of international engagement that brings nations together beyond political and diplomatic relations.
