Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call on Saturday from Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, who appreciated Pakistan's efforts as a mediator and acknowledged its significant contribution to advancing international peace efforts, as well as promoting regional peace and stability.
Highlights of the Call
During the call, Foreign Minister Saidov felicitated, on behalf of his President and himself, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He commended the leadership of Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their constructive role in facilitating the process, according to a press release from the Foreign Office Spokesperson.
Shared Hopes for Peace and Stability
Both leaders expressed hope that the progress achieved would be carried forward in the next phase of engagement, contributing to lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond. They agreed to maintain close contact on matters of mutual interest.
In a separate development, Rawalpindi introduced juvenile driving permits for 16-year-old motorcycle riders.
