Proscription of Joint Awami Action Committee

Earlier, the AJK Home Department issued a notification declaring the Joint Awami Action Committee a proscribed organization under the region's anti-terrorism laws. According to the notification, groups operating under the names 'Jammu Kashmir Action Committee' and 'Joint Awami Action Committee' have been placed in the First Schedule of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Terrorism Act 2014. Authorities stated that the decision was approved by the AJK president, citing concerns that the organization was allegedly involved in activities that could disturb public order and threaten peace and stability in the region.
