King Hamad Bestows Order of Bahrain on British Ambassador
King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain presented the Order of Bahrain (First Class) to Alastair Long, the British ambassador to Manama, on Sunday. The award recognized Long's contributions to enhancing and advancing relations between the United Kingdom and Bahrain, according to the Bahrain News Agency.
During the ceremony, King Hamad underscored the strong strategic and longstanding ties between Bahrain and the UK, emphasizing the enduring partnership between the two nations. The honor was conferred in recognition of Long's diplomatic efforts and commitment to fostering bilateral cooperation.
Lucie Belgrave Visits Bahrain to Mark Centenary
King Hamad also received Lucie Belgrave, the great-granddaughter of Charles Belgrave, who served as chief advisor to Bahrain's rulers from 1926 to 1957 and led key reforms and modernization initiatives across various sectors. Belgrave visited the British Residence in Manama to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Charles Belgrave's arrival in Bahrain in 1926.
Lucie Belgrave is the granddaughter of James Hamad Belgrave, who passed away in 1979 and is buried in the Christian cemetery in Salmabad, west of Isa Town. The visit highlighted the historical connections between the Belgrave family and Bahrain's development.
