ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is facilitating the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals, including fishermen rescued at sea and crew members recently interdicted by US authorities. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar wrote on X that the group included eight Iranian fishermen who were rescued at sea by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat ran aground. It also includes 22 Iranian crew members from the vessel Lenore/Davina, which was recently interdicted by US authorities. Both groups are expected to transit through Karachi in the coming days, he added.
The repatriation process highlights Pakistan's continued humanitarian efforts and diplomatic coordination with Iran. The eight fishermen were rescued after their boat encountered difficulties at sea, while the 22 crew members were detained following a US interdiction of their vessel. The Pakistani government is working to ensure their safe return to Iran via Karachi, demonstrating its commitment to regional cooperation and support for those in distress.
