Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the persistent ceasefire violations and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Speaking at an emergency session of the UN Security Council convened to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stated that the efforts of the Peace Board, the United Nations, and international non-governmental organizations are being systematically undermined by the unlawful actions of the occupying authorities.
Call for Unhindered Humanitarian Access
Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that immediate, unhindered, and unimpeded humanitarian access must be guaranteed in Gaza. He stressed that all border crossings, including the Rafah crossing, must be opened and kept fully operational to facilitate the delivery of aid, commercial supplies, and medical evacuations. He also called for the complete lifting of the blockade on Gaza, which has exacerbated the suffering of the civilian population.
Demand for Protection of Humanitarian Personnel
The Pakistani envoy further demanded that attacks on humanitarian and medical personnel must cease immediately. He also called for an end to any unlawful detentions, underscoring the need to uphold international humanitarian law and protect those providing essential services to the affected population.
