Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced that the positive economic impacts of the government's policies would be transferred to the public once lasting peace is achieved in the region and normal conditions are restored.
Meeting with Women Parliamentarians
Speaking during a meeting with women members of parliament from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the prime minister emphasized that enduring peace in the region is crucial for economic growth and prosperity. He stated that stability would foster conditions for greater public relief and development.
The prime minister thanked the women parliamentarians for their active involvement in the ongoing budget session and noted that the government has made every effort to provide maximum relief to citizens in the Budget 2026-27. He highlighted several initiatives aimed at empowering women and increasing their participation in national development.
Empowerment of Women
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that empowering Pakistani women to fully contribute to national development is among the government's top priorities. He remarked that, by the grace of Allah, tensions in the region have subsided and peace efforts have succeeded.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to friendly countries that fully supported the peace initiatives. He stated that since the onset of tensions, the Government of Pakistan, particularly Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and the entire government team, have worked sincerely and actively toward restoring peace.
Economic Development Goals
He noted that lasting peace in the region and across the world is essential for Pakistan and other countries to achieve their economic development goals. Over recent months, the government made every possible effort to shield the public from the effects of global inflation.
"By the grace of Allah, unlike some other countries in the region, Pakistan did not face any crisis, nor were there long queues for fuel," he added.
