Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation, development portfolio, governance, and service delivery in Malakand Division. The relevant authorities briefed the meeting on the prevailing security situation, ongoing development initiatives, governance performance, and the delivery of public services across the division.
Security Directives and Investigations
The Chief Minister directed the police authorities to expedite and conclude investigations into attacks on parliamentarians in Malakand Division. He stressed that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the government’s foremost priority and directed that all necessary measures be undertaken on an urgent basis to ensure public safety and security. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were being further strengthened through the provision of modern weapons and equipment to enhance their operational capabilities and improve the overall security environment.
Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Terrorism and Narcotics
The Chief Minister directed the relevant authorities to pursue a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and narcotics and to undertake coordinated and indiscriminate enforcement actions across Malakand Division to ensure a safe and secure environment for the public.
Development Portfolio and Infrastructure
Reviewing the development portfolio, the Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure full funding for the Paediatrics Hospital and Arshad Sharif University projects in Swat. He also directed the establishment of shelters for labourers and the provision of cold drinking water and fans at public places. A grant of Rs570 million was approved for the restoration of small industrial estate infrastructure.
Service Delivery and Public Grievances
“We must assess our performance against tangible improvements in public satisfaction and well-being,” the Chief Minister said. He directed the administration to further strengthen service delivery, place citizen satisfaction at the centre of performance assessment, and continue holding Khuli Kachehris to ensure the timely resolution of public grievances.
Development Schemes and Police Infrastructure
The meeting was informed that work was underway on 737 development schemes across Malakand Division and that 99 percent of the allocated development funds had been utilized. It was further informed that the fortification of police infrastructure across the Division was in progress. Fourteen Police Facilitation Centres were currently operational, while three additional centres were under construction.
Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies elected from Malakand Division, the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inspector General of Police, Divisional Commissioner, Regional Police Officer, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
