KP Minister Cracks Down on Certificate Overcharging

KP Government Takes Action Against Certificate Overcharging

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Local Government Minister, Mina Khan Afridi, has issued immediate directives to stop the overcharging of citizens for essential documents including marriage, death, birth, and divorce certificates across the province.

Mandatory Receipts and Transparent Fee Display

The minister has made the issuance of official receipts mandatory for all certificate transactions. In a significant move toward transparency, Afridi has ordered all village and neighborhood council secretaries to prominently display the official fee schedule in their offices to ensure citizens are properly informed about correct charges.

According to the notification from the Local Government Department, every applicant must receive an official receipt or token without exception. Each receipt must clearly state the fee charged for the relevant certificate, with office records maintaining copies for accountability.

Strict Action Against Violators

Minister Afridi emphasized that negligence or misconduct in fee collection will not be tolerated. The government notification explicitly warns that strict disciplinary action will be taken against any official who violates these new directives.

Afridi reiterated that transparent, fair and citizen-focused service delivery remains a core priority for the government. He affirmed the administration's commitment to safeguarding citizens' rights and continuing reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability across all local government offices.

The immediate corrective measures come in response to numerous public complaints about overcharging for these essential life documents that citizens require for various legal and administrative purposes.
