Two police officials from Awami Colony police station have been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting and injuring two young men in a staged police encounter near Double Road Football Ground in Korangi. The incident occurred on Saturday night within the jurisdiction of Awami Colony police station. Police personnel opened fire on two youths riding a motorcycle—identified as Muhammad Athar and Abdul Razzaq—leaving both seriously injured.

IG Sindh Takes Strict Notice

IG Sindh took strict notice of the incident, suspending SHO Awami Colony, Sub-Inspector Adnan Bukhari, and demoting him by one rank. Initially, the incident was described as a police encounter. However, following the statement of injured Abdul Razzaq and preliminary findings, the case became suspicious, prompting SSP Korangi to order an inquiry.

Investigation Reveals Staged Encounter

During the investigation conducted by SP Landhi, evidence of a staged encounter reportedly emerged, leading to the registration of a case of attempted murder against police officials Haris Sheikh and Zeeshan Asad, who were subsequently arrested. The case was registered at Awami Colony police station on the complaint of Syed Alam, uncle of injured Muhammad Athar.
