Fraud Case Registered Over Fake Surety Bonds for PTI Worker

RAWALPINDI: The Civil Lines police have registered a cheating and fraud case on the directives of a special judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC-I) against a man who submitted bogus property documents as surety bonds for the bail of a Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) worker. The worker, Chaudhry Asif Ali from Sahiwal, was earlier convicted in the GHQ gate attack case on May 9, 2023.

The case was registered against Agha Ammar-ul-Haq for submitting fake property documents as surety bonds. Asif Ali was convicted and sentenced to imprisonment in absentia after he absconded from court proceedings following his release on bail.

Zaheer Abbas, the record keeper of ATC-I, filed a complaint stating that the surety bond submitted by Ammar-ul-Haq was found fake after scrutiny by the ATC judge. Upon verification, the bond turned out to be forged and fabricated, as no record of the mentioned piece of land was found with the revenue authorities in Chak Jalal Din. Consequently, the court ordered legal action against the guarantor of the accused, who remains at large.
