Lineman Electrocuted During Maintenance Work
In a tragic incident in Batagram, power lineman Sher Muhammad lost his life while performing maintenance on a high-tension line of the Alai Feeder-II in the Deshan area. The line was suddenly energized, causing a fatal electric shock. Muhammad, a resident of Koshgram, died at the scene.
Sources alleged that the deceased lineman and his colleagues had formally informed the staff at Chattar Grid Station before commencing work. However, despite the prior notification, electricity was reportedly restored to the line. The exact circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear.
Departmental Inquiry Launched
Officials stated that a departmental inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the incident. The facts are expected to emerge after the investigation's completion. Following legal formalities, Muhammad's body was handed over to his family and transported to his native village for burial.
Teenager Killed in Road Accident
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old student named Sudeer Shah, son of Zubair Shah and a resident of Maidan, Batagram, was killed when a car plunged into a deep ravine near Qanjbori. The vehicle lost control while negotiating a bend, resulting in Shah's death at the scene.
Another young man in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Ayub Teaching Hospital in Abbottabad for specialized treatment. The accident occurred in a remote and difficult-to-access area.
Rescue Operation
Local residents, assisted by Rescue 1122 teams, conducted a lengthy rescue operation lasting several hours. They recovered the victim's body and evacuated the injured passenger from the ravine.
