KP Government Commits to Service Delivery Reforms

In a significant move to enhance public service efficiency, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah, has reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to overhauling its service delivery mechanisms. This pledge was made during the weekly governance review meeting held on Monday, which saw participation from administrative secretaries and relevant officials, with Deputy Commissioners joining via video link.

Key Governance Initiatives and Directives

The high-level forum was briefed on several critical ongoing operations. Anti-encroachment drives are actively underway as a core component of Peshawar's beautification and rehabilitation plan. The Chief Secretary issued a directive for all departments to maintain close coordination to ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives.

To combat the issue of essential commodity hoarding, the meeting was informed that strict monitoring is being implemented to keep a close check on the market supply and dealer stockpiles of items like sugar and flour. In the health sector, Deputy Commissioners have been assigned special tasks to guarantee the success of the ongoing measles and rubella vaccination campaign across the province.

Digital Transformation and Future Roadmaps

A major focus of the discussion was the province's push towards digitization and public-private partnerships. The committee responsible for establishing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Authority has been tasked with drafting the necessary legislation within two months. Furthermore, plans to encourage public engagement in PPP projects and a roadmap for introducing electric vehicle rickshaws are currently in development.

In a move to modernize government operations, a facial recognition attendance system is being introduced province-wide. Additionally, the Land Use and Building Control Authority is set to launch an online portal within the next two weeks, allowing citizens to register complaints concerning illegal housing societies and constructions.

The briefing also revealed that the e-Office digitization project will be extended to all directorates and subordinate offices by December 10. This expansion is aimed at significantly boosting transparency and efficiency within the government's operational framework.
