PDMA Issues Dust Storm and Rain Alert for Sindh Districts

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has issued a fresh alert for dust storms and rainfall across several districts, urging authorities to remain on high alert. Director General Salman Shah warned on Sunday that dust storms and rain are expected in Dadu and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts on the same day. He also forecast the possibility of rainfall in Tharparkar, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Naushahro Feroz, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Sanghar.

Precautionary Measures and Preparedness

The PDMA chief directed all concerned departments and district administrations to ensure preparedness and take precautionary measures to effectively respond to any emergency situation arising from the expected weather conditions. Authorities have been instructed to maintain close coordination with the meteorological department and keep emergency response teams on standby.

PMD Forecast for July 12-13

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecast mainly hot and very humid weather across most parts of Sindh. Isolated rain, windstorms, and thundershowers are expected in Tharparkar, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad on July 12 and 13. The PMD advised farmers and travelers to remain cautious during this period.

The alert comes amid ongoing heatwave conditions in the province, with temperatures soaring in many areas. The PDMA has also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors during dust storms.
