Islamabad Police's 2025 Security Milestones Revealed

The Security Division of the Islamabad Capital Police demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the year 2025, safeguarding a vast array of high-profile national and international events within the federal capital. Their comprehensive security umbrella covered legislative proceedings, major sports tournaments, and hundreds of conferences, ensuring a secure environment for dignitaries and citizens alike.

Massive Security Deployment for Key Events

According to an official police report, the division successfully managed security for a staggering number of events. This included 14 sessions of the National Assembly, 15 sittings of the Senate, and three joint sessions of Parliament. The sporting highlight was the complete security provision for the entire Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament. Beyond these, the force secured 969 national and international conferences and major events.

To achieve this, a continuous and dynamic deployment strategy was employed. At various peak times, approximately 6,000 officers and personnel from the Security Division, Traffic Police, Special Branch, and Operational Police were on active duty. The report also confirmed flawless security protocols for the arrival and departure of 19 international VVIP delegations, which included visiting foreign cricket teams.

Technological Upgrades and Specialized Initiatives

The year 2025 saw significant technological and procedural advancements to bolster security infrastructure. A major development was the introduction of a "Panic Alert System" at the Special Protection Unit's control room, specifically designed to enhance the safety of Chinese nationals in Islamabad and ensure rapid emergency responses.

Critical infrastructure received substantial upgrades. The perimeter wall of the Diplomatic Enclave was secured with an activated electrified fencing system. Modern Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras were installed at entry points for automated vehicle screening. The Naka Serena checkpoint was upgraded under the "Good Luck Policy" to meet contemporary security standards.

Specialized security plans remained in effect for government buildings, embassies, diplomats, and prominent personalities. Integrated measures were enforced to maintain law and order in the sensitive Red Zone and Extended Red Zone areas.

Reforms, Community Engagement, and Recognition

The Security Division also focused on service delivery and morale. The establishment of the Police Service Centre "Kaskade" proved highly successful, facilitating 2,652 diplomats in availing federal police services. Furthermore, 7,044 diplomats used services for driving license issuance, renewal, and learner permits.

In a move to foster better coordination, open conferences were held with embassy security officers to discuss new reforms and address mission-specific challenges. The police also engaged in community and environmental efforts, conducting tree plantation drives in the Diplomatic Enclave as part of the Green Pakistan Campaign.

Internally, the year saw record promotions within the division, with officers receiving higher ranks and new insignia. To honor veterans, the force observed "Ghazi Week," inviting and gifting Ghazis as a token of appreciation.

DIG Security Muhammad Atiq Tahir emphasized that the Islamabad Police Security Division is committed to taking robust and proactive measures. The goal remains to ensure foolproof security for diplomats, all national and international delegations, important personalities, and the capital's sensitive installations.
