Lahore Hosts OCA Fun Run for 2026 Asian Games

Lahore became part of the growing continent-wide countdown to the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 as the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), in collaboration with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Organising Committee, successfully organized the OCA Fun Run at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). The event brought together athletes, students, sports officials, families, and community members in a celebration of the core values of the Asian Games: friendship, unity, excellence, and a shared passion for sport.

The Fun Run forms part of a series of promotional activities being held across Asia ahead of the Games, which are scheduled to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Participants began their journey to the main ceremony from different locations across Lahore, including educational institutions, sports clubs, and community centers. Traveling through organized walks, runs, and transport arrangements, they converged at the historic Ganga Ram Building of LCWU before proceeding to the Iqra Auditorium for the official ceremony.

The event was attended by representatives of the OCA and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Organising Committee, including Anthony Al Tahech, Zahid Hafeez, Hiroshi Sakai, and Azusa Dodo. Welcoming the guests, LCWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Uzma Qureshi highlighted the transformative role of sport in empowering young people, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering understanding among diverse communities and cultures.

He also conveyed his best wishes to Pakistan's athletes as they prepare to compete on Asia's biggest sporting stage.

Representing the OCA, Anthony Al Tahech commended the POA for its efforts in promoting the Olympic and Asian Games movements and praised the successful organization of the Lahore event.
