MIT Solutions secured the President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold title after a drawn four-day final against Kingsmen Academy at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, clinching the championship on the strength of an 82-run first-innings lead. The victory also earned MIT Solutions promotion to the President’s Trophy Grade-I, Pakistan’s premier first-class domestic competition.
Championship and Prize Details
The champions received a cash prize of PKR 5 million, while runners-up Kingsmen Academy collected PKR 2.5 million. Chasing 304 in 75 overs after Kingsmen declared at 385-6, MIT Solutions produced a determined batting effort to deny their opponents the outright victory they required.
Batting Performances
Openers Afaq Ahmed (40) and Husnain Nadeem (26) laid a solid foundation before Abdullah Shafique anchored the innings with an unbeaten 60, sharing a crucial 85-run partnership with Zahid Mansoor (40) to steer his side to safety. Earlier, Muhammad Shayan extended his overnight score to 63, while Rana Faseehullah blasted an unbeaten 71 off just 44 balls to accelerate Kingsmen’s declaration.
Promotion and Infrastructure Grant
The triumph also earned MIT Solutions promotion to the President’s Trophy Grade-I. In related news, a Rs570 million grant has been approved for small industrial estate infrastructure restoration.
