The All Pakistan Juniors and Seniors National Ranking Tennis Championship 2026 continued with exciting matches at Sahiwal Club on Thursday, as top players advanced in their respective categories.
Men's Singles Quarterfinals
In the men's singles quarterfinals, Hassaan Shaukat defeated Sheikh Zeeshan with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Ahtesham Humayun beat Suleiman Junaid 7-5, 6-3. Asad Zaman from Ali Emboridery Mills overcame M. Yahya 7-6, 6-3, while Imran Bhatti routed M Mazhar 6-2, 6-4.
Men's Doubles Matches
In the men's doubles event, Suleiman Junaid and M Yahya defeated Sheikh Zeeshan and Dr Ali Nawaz 6-2, 6-4. Abdul Basit and M Waqar secured a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Imran Bhatti and Hamza Naeem. Abu Bakar Talha and Talha Waheed cruised into the next round with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win.
Senior Doubles Events
In the 45-plus doubles event, Rashid Malik and Aqeel Khan defeated Rana Moeed and Mehboob 6-0, 6-0. Talha Waheed and Hassan Saeed recorded a straight-set victory, while Yousaf Khan and Nazir Ahmad advanced with a 6-1, 6-2 success. The 55-plus doubles semifinals saw Rashid Malik and Arif Feroze register a 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Khurram Imtiaz and Fayyaz Nazir battled past Mian Naveed and Tanveer Haral.
Junior Categories
In the U18 category, Ahtesham Humayun and Abdul Basit advanced to the final after winning their respective semi-finals. In the U14 girls' event, Khadija Khalil and Eman Shahbaz secured places in the final, while Bismal Zia and Khadija Khalil progressed in the girls' U18.
Appreciation for Organizers
At the conclusion of the day's play, Rashid Malik thanked Commissioner Sahiwal Dr Asif Tufail and the management of Sahiwal Club for their efforts in reviving national-level tennis in the city after a gap of 28 years. He praised the organizers for providing a valuable platform for players of all age groups and contributing to the promotion and development of tennis in the region.
