Omar Khalid Wins CNS Open, Extends Unbeaten Run to 5 WAGR Titles
Omar Khalid Clinches CNS Open Amateur Golf Title

Pakistan's teenage golf sensation, Omar Khalid, has once again proven his dominance on the national circuit by securing a commanding victory at the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Open amateur championship. The event was held at the prestigious Karachi Golf Club, where Khalid finished two strokes ahead of the competition to claim the title.

A Composed Victory in Karachi

The 54-hole championship saw the talented youngster deliver a masterclass in consistency and nerve. Omar Khalid posted rounds of 73, 70, and 74 to finish with a total that was good enough for a two-stroke margin of victory. This win is the latest in a series of remarkable achievements for the golfer, who at just 16 became Pakistan's youngest national amateur champion and the youngest-ever to hold the Pakistan No.1 ranking.

An Unbeatable Streak of Success

This triumph at the CNS Open marks Omar Khalid's fifth consecutive World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) title in Pakistan since December 2023. His unbeaten run on home soil is a testament to his skill and mental fortitude. The streak includes prestigious domestic victories such as the Sindh Open in Karachi and the KP Open in Peshawar, establishing him as the country's most formidable amateur golfer.

Demonstrating his all-around prowess, Khalid also tasted success earlier in the tournament week. He teamed up with professionals Ansar Mehmood, M.A. Mannan, and Rizwan Feroz to capture the CNS Open Pro-Am gross title, showcasing his ability to excel in both individual and team formats.

Pakistan's Pride in American Collegiate Golf

Omar Khalid's talents are not confined to Pakistan. He is currently based in Evansville, Indiana, where he competes in NCAA Division-I golf for the University of Evansville. This makes him the only Pakistani golfer playing at the highest level of American collegiate golf, a proven pathway for most elite professionals on the PGA Tour.

His groundbreaking year continued earlier in 2024 when he created history in the United States. Omar Khalid became the first amateur ever to win the Fendrich Open Golf Championship in Evansville, further cementing his reputation as a rising star on the international stage.

The future looks exceptionally bright for this young athlete. With each victory, Omar Khalid is not just collecting trophies but also inspiring a new generation of golfers in Pakistan and putting the country's golfing talent firmly on the global map.
