SEGA and RGG Studio have confirmed that the late rapper Tupac Shakur will appear as a character in the upcoming action-adventure game Stranger Than Heaven. The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest 2026, where a new trailer also revealed the game's worldwide release date: January 15, 2027.

New Cast Members Revealed

Alongside Tupac, the trailer introduced additional cast members including actors Takashi Ukaji, Yasukaze Motomiya, Takaya Kuroda, and Kohei Tsuji. Following the trailer, RGG Studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama took the stage to confirm the release date. He was later joined by rapper Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus, both of whom portray characters in the game.

Tupac's Role: Amaru

According to SEGA, Tupac will appear as a new character named Amaru. The portrayal was developed with permission and ongoing supervision from his estate, Amaru Entertainment. SEGA emphasized that RGG Studio worked closely with the estate throughout development and that no artificial intelligence was used in recreating the late rapper. The character's design was created using archival footage and photographs. Further details about Amaru's role are expected to be revealed later.

Music Contributions

Snoop Dogg is also contributing to the game's official theme song alongside Satoshi Fujihara, Ado, and Tori Kelly, all of whom have roles within the title.

Release Platforms and Pre-Orders

Stranger Than Heaven will be available on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam, and PlayStation 5. Pre-orders are now open across digital and physical editions. SEGA has also announced a limited Collector's Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which includes a 12-inch vinyl record featuring the game's main theme and selected soundtrack tracks, a SteelBook case, downloadable content bonuses, and exclusive artwork.
