The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Pakistan (IEEEP) Karachi Centre, in collaboration with Badar Expo Solutions, held the soft launch of the 15th edition of the IEEEP Fair 2026 at a local hotel in Karachi. The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and diplomats to discuss the future of Pakistan's engineering and technology sectors.

Chief Guest Highlights Need for Local Innovation

Chief guest Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), underscored the importance of reducing Pakistan's dependence on imported technology. He emphasized the need to focus on local innovation and manufacturing to drive industrial growth. According to Magoon, the IEEEP Fair aligns with FPCCI's vision of technology-driven industrial development, bridging the gap between engineering talent and industry needs.

Magoon praised the organizers for their efforts in connecting engineering talent with industrial opportunities, stating that such initiatives are crucial for Pakistan's economic progress. He noted that the fair serves as a platform to showcase indigenous capabilities and foster collaboration between local and international stakeholders.

Energy Department Commits Support

Shahab Qamar Ansari, Secretary Energy for Sindh, attended as the special guest of honor. He expressed gratitude to the organizers for hosting an event aimed at addressing the country's energy challenges. Ansari highlighted the immense energy corridors available in Sindh province and reaffirmed the Energy Department's commitment to supporting participants of the IEEEP Fair and the institution. He stated that the department is dedicated to facilitating innovation in the energy sector and promoting sustainable solutions.

Ansari's remarks underscored the government's recognition of the fair's role in tackling energy issues and fostering technological advancements. He assured attendees that the provincial government would continue to back initiatives that strengthen Pakistan's energy infrastructure.

Chairman IEEEP Karachi Center Announces Awards

Engr Muhammad Navid Akram Ansari, Chairman of IEEEP Karachi Center, highlighted the fair's significance as the country's largest and most prestigious exhibition dedicated to electrical, electronics, and allied engineering products, technologies, and solutions. He announced that the 15th edition will feature the launch of the "Made in Pakistan Excellence Awards," recognizing firms that manufacture and export products made in Pakistan. This initiative aims to encourage Pakistani manufacturers to raise standards and enhance the global reputation of Pakistani-made goods.

Ansari noted that the fair is expected to bring together more than 200 local and international exhibitors, showcasing cutting-edge technologies in electrical, electronics, renewable energy, and allied engineering sectors. He emphasized that the awards will motivate companies to innovate and compete globally, ultimately boosting Pakistan's industrial profile.

Earlier, Zohair Naseer, Chief Executive Officer of Badar Expo Solutions, welcomed dignitaries, exhibitors, and media representatives. He highlighted the fair's role in connecting local manufacturers with buyers, promoting innovation, and showcasing Pakistan's industrial capabilities. Naseer expressed optimism about the upcoming event and its potential to drive economic growth through technological collaboration.

The soft launch ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Arif Lakhani, Vice President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Engr Khalid Pervaiz, consultant engineer; and diplomats from the United States and the Russian Federation. A large media presence also covered the event, reflecting its significance in the engineering community.

Main Fair Scheduled for August 2026

The main IEEEP Fair 2026 will take place from 18th to 20th August 2026 at the Karachi Expo Centre. Organizers anticipate a robust turnout of exhibitors and visitors, with a focus on promoting local manufacturing and technological self-reliance. The event is poised to be a key platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and business development in the engineering sector.
