More than 600 deserving families in Jhelum have received allotment letters for free three-marla residential plots under the Punjab government’s “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” programme. Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani distributed the allotment letters to beneficiaries at a ceremony held on Saturday.
Minister Highlights Government Commitment
Addressing the gathering, Kiani congratulated the successful applicants and expressed his delight at being part of the event. He stated that the programme reflects the commitment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to provide shelter to deserving families, adding that owning a house is the dream of every individual and the government is fulfilling its promise through practical measures.
Application and Selection Process
Kiani revealed that a total of 5,942 applications were received from Jhelum through the official online portal. After NADRA verification, 4,303 applicants were declared eligible. Following scrutiny by the revenue department, 730 beneficiaries were selected through a transparent computerized balloting process.
Financial Support for Construction
The minister further said that beneficiaries of the scheme can also obtain an interest-free loan of up to Rs1.5 million from the Bank of Punjab for the construction of their houses. Additionally, at the federal level, the Prime Minister’s housing initiative provides loans of up to Rs10 million through banks at a subsidized markup of five per cent.

The beneficiaries thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiani for launching the initiative and facilitating low-income families in acquiring residential plots.
