Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented the one-year service data of the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) during a session of the Sindh Assembly, highlighting the institute's exceptional performance in providing free healthcare. According to the figures, GIMS attended to 128,094 Outpatients Department (OPD) patients and treated 29,052 indoor patients over the past year.
Key Medical Procedures and Treatments
The institute conducted 126,761 dialysis procedures, performed 3,352 surgeries, and managed 4,725 oncology patients during this period. Additionally, GIMS carried out 182 liver transplants, seven kidney transplants, 14 bone marrow transplants, and 19 cornea transplants, all free of charge. A total of 108 cardiac procedures were also completed at the facility.
“Alhamdulillah, people are praising our hospital. MashaAllah, GIMS is delivering results that speak for themselves,” the CM told the Assembly.
Recognition and Leadership
According to GIMS Spokesperson Jameel Haider, the recognition came as the provincial government underscores its focus on expanding access to specialized, free healthcare. Officials credited the achievement to Capt (retd) Dr Rahim Bux Bhatti, Director GIMS Gambat, and the institute’s medical and administrative teams.
Institute Background
Established as a public-sector tertiary care hospital in District Khairpur, GIMS has positioned itself as a referral centre for transplant and cardiac services in upper Sindh and adjoining regions.
