DC Hyderabad Directs Early Monsoon Preparations
Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen Memon has directed all relevant departments to finalize necessary arrangements in advance to effectively handle potential monsoon rains and flooding. The directive was issued during a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Hyderabad held at the New DC Complex.
Multi-Pronged Strategy Emphasized
The DC stressed the importance of a multi-pronged strategy and robust inter-agency coordination for the upcoming monsoon season of 2026. He instructed DDMA members to immediately submit their respective monsoon contingency plans so that any gaps can be identified and addressed promptly.
Focus on Drain Cleaning
Officials from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA), and Town Municipal Officers were specifically directed to ensure timely cleaning of drains across the district. This measure aims to prevent urban flooding and minimize damage from heavy rains.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, proactive steps are essential to safeguard lives and property. The meeting reviewed past monsoon challenges and discussed strategies to improve response times.
