The Punjab government officially launched the Electric Green Bus Service in Khanewal on Wednesday, marking a significant step toward sustainable public transportation in the region. The inauguration ceremony was led by Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid, alongside Member of the National Assembly Muhammad Khan Daha, Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Rana Muhammad Saleem Hanif, and Members of the Provincial Assembly Asghar Hayat Hiraj and Chaudhry Ziaur Rehman.
First Phase: Nine Electric Buses on Two Routes
In the initial phase, nine electric buses will operate on two designated routes: Khanewal-Kabirwala and Khanewal-Jahanian. To enhance passenger convenience, the district administration has established 84 waiting shelters along these routes. The buses are equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity, CCTV cameras for security, GPS-based tracking systems, and comfortable seating, ensuring a safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly travel experience.
Government Commitment to Modern Public Transport
Speaking at the inauguration, MNA Muhammad Khan Daha emphasized the Punjab government's dedication to improving public transport. He stated, "The Punjab government is taking practical steps to provide citizens with modern public transport facilities." The initiative aligns with broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote green energy solutions in the province.
