Teachers and students of Government Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain, Latifabad No. 9, Hyderabad, attended a session of the Sindh Assembly, where they were welcomed by Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah. Shah congratulated them on achieving the milestone, while other lawmakers also welcomed them. Members of the Provincial Assembly lauded the school, stating that it has brought great pride to the country and Sindh by earning such an award.
Minister Celebrates Historic Achievement
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah and Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro mingled with teachers and students, celebrating the historic achievement with them in the gallery of the Sindh Assembly. The school has been named among the top 10 finalists worldwide in the Community Collaboration category of the World’s Best School Prizes 2026, presented by T4 Education.
Congratulating the school administration, headteacher, teachers, students, parents, and the local community, Sardar Ali Shah said, "This achievement is not merely the success of a single school but a source of pride for Sindh’s education system, government schools, and the entire nation." He stated that this milestone reflects the success of Sindh’s ongoing education reforms and the promotion of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education in public schools.
Global Recognition for Public School
The minister emphasized that students and teachers of government schools have demonstrated that, with the right opportunities, effective leadership, innovative teaching practices, and sustained commitment, it is possible to achieve global standards. He reaffirmed the Sindh Government’s commitment to further strengthening quality education, innovation, teachers’ professional development, and community engagement.
Sardar Ali Shah further remarked that the success of Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain serves as a beacon of hope, inspiration, and a model for public schools across Pakistan. He attributed this accomplishment to the effective leadership of the school head, the tireless dedication of its teachers, the determination of its students, the unwavering support of parents, and the active participation of the local community.
T4 Education and the World’s Best School Prizes
T4 Education is an international organization that recognizes outstanding educational institutions from around the world. The World’s Best School Prizes are regarded among the most prestigious global awards in education. The awards recognize schools in five categories: Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives. This year, thousands of public and private schools from around the world submitted applications highlighting their educational achievements, innovative teaching practices, community partnerships, and positive impact on students.
After an extensive evaluation process, an international panel of experts selected only ten finalist schools worldwide in each category. Only two schools from Pakistan were shortlisted for this prestigious global award: one private school from Punjab and the only government school from Sindh—Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain, Hyderabad.
Representing Pakistan’s Public Education
As the only public school from Sindh on the shortlist, it has proudly represented not only the province but also Pakistan’s public education system on the global stage. The school secured its place among the global top ten in the Community Collaboration category through its strong partnerships with the local community, awareness campaigns, innovative STEAM-based learning activities, and its commitment to the holistic development of students. These initiatives have enhanced students’ confidence, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and hands-on learning skills, while also encouraging meaningful community participation in educational activities.
Prior Achievements and STEAM Impact
Prior to this international recognition, the school had already earned distinction at both provincial and national levels. Its students won an interdisciplinary climate change challenge during the Sindh Government’s inaugural STEAM Muqablo, and the school has consistently ranked among the top-performing institutions on the national STEAM Pakistan platform. According to the school’s teachers, the introduction of the STEAM Programme by the Sindh Education and Literacy Department has transformed the school’s learning environment. The programme has made education more practical, meaningful, and engaging for students, particularly benefiting girls who had previously faced challenges such as child labour by providing them with new opportunities for learning, growth, and empowerment.
