Lahore Municipality Publishes List of 83 Dangerous Buildings

The Lahore Municipality has released a comprehensive list of hazardous and derelict buildings across the city. The Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, who also serves as the Administrator of the Municipality, has issued directives for the immediate construction or rehabilitation of these dilapidated structures. According to the official details, a total of 83 buildings have been identified as dangerous, with 45 of them declared as extremely irreparable. The list encompasses residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

Notices and Enforcement Actions

The Lahore Municipality has announced that first notices will be issued to the owners of the 83 identified buildings shortly. The district administration has stated that related departments will be responsible for implementing building bylaws in slums, as well as in urban and rural settlements across the province, including Lahore. Metropolitan Officer Dr. Rai Imtiaz Hassan (Planning) confirmed that constructions violating the approved building plan are being demolished in the city.

In a related development, a grant of Rs570 million has been approved for the restoration of infrastructure in small industrial estates. This funding aims to improve facilities and support industrial activities in the region.

Implementation of Bylaws in Slums

Director General of Slums, Muhammad Shahid, stated that for illegal violations, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and local government will enforce the building bylaws. The move is part of a broader effort to ensure safety and regulatory compliance across all types of settlements.
