Late Night Fire Destroys 10 Stalls at Lunda Bazaar

A late-night fire at Lunda Bazaar near Mehrban Market in Tench Bhatta, a densely populated area of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, destroyed 10 stalls, according to rescue officials and local police. The blaze erupted around 1 a.m. on Monday night, rapidly engulfing multiple stalls within the bazaar.

Firefighting Response and Casualties

Rescue 1122 deployed six firefighting vehicles to control the flames. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire by early Tuesday morning, and no casualties were reported. The bazaar houses a total of 45 stalls, and the gutted ones contained items such as old clothes, curtains, and shoes.

Cause and Financial Loss

The cause of the fire remains unknown, rescuers said. The estimated loss from the fire is approximately Rs20 million. However, timely action by the firefighting teams saved potential losses of about Rs150 million, according to rescue officials.
