Police arrested a suspected drug trafficker and seized more than 10 kilograms of hashish during a snap-checking operation in Dera Ismail Khan, officials said on Sunday.
Arrest and Seizure Details
According to a police spokesman, officers from Town Police Station intercepted a suspect, identified as Muhammad Rizwan, a resident of Shorkot, during routine checking. A search allegedly led to the recovery of 10.425 kilograms of hashish concealed in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and the narcotics were seized as evidence.
Legal Proceedings
A case has been registered under the relevant legal provisions, while further investigations are under way. Police said investigators were attempting to establish the source of the narcotics, identify any accomplices and determine whether the suspect was linked to a wider drug trafficking network operating within or outside the district.
Police Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior district police officers as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and other criminal activities. Deputy Superintendent of Police Hafiz Muhammad Adnan said the district police would continue taking action against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade. He also appealed to the public to assist law enforcement agencies by reporting suspected drug dealers and other criminal elements.
